Please scroll down for english version.<\/strong> GOOD SPACE \u2013 COMMUNITIES, ODER DAS VERSPRECHEN VON GL\u00dcCK<\/strong><\/em> ist nicht etwa ein soziologisch fundiertes Projekt, es ist angelegt als ein spielerisch sinnlicher und erfahrungsintensiver Ausstellungsessay. Mit den gezeigten k\u00fcnstlerischen Positionen und Haltungen zielt er je auf punktuelle, in die Tiefe greifende Auseinandersetzungen. So geht es beispielsweise um Faszinationen fu\u0308r die Architekturen fiktiver Gemeinschaften in abgelegenen Gebieten, frei von den Zw\u00e4ngen der Ordnung der St\u00e4dte. Oder wir navigieren entlang der Architekturen von Macht, wobei die durchdringenden Folgen des Kolonialismus f\u00fcr die angestammten Gesellschaften thematisiert und deren gravierende Der Ausstellungsessay versteht sich als Pl\u00e4doyer fu\u0308r ein durch Neugier, Respekt und Wertsch\u00e4tzung geleitetes Miteinander, das Bed\u00fcrfnisse st\u00e4ndig neu definiert und Differenzen aushandelt.<\/p>\n Bespielt werden die Villa Merkel, das im 19. Jahrhundert errichtete Wohngeb\u00e4ude eines Industriellen und heutiger Sitz der Galerie der Stadt Esslingen, der die Villa umgebende Merkelpark sowie ein Teil der nahegelegenen EAW Hallen (Eisenbahnausbesserungswerk), einst Heimat der K\u00f6niglich W\u00fcrttembergischen Eisenbahnwerkst\u00e4tten. Wie nebenbei werden mit den Spielorten R\u00e4ume erlebbar, die mit der Industriegeschichte der Stadt und des gesamten S\u00fcdwestens verbunden sind. Social diversity arises, not in the shape of disconnected, mono-cultural islands, but instead through contact, through exchange, through cooperation. The\u00a0 cohesion of societies is characterised by a unifying element, whether this is shared values or concepts of identity, whether it consists of norms or of rules. But also inherent to mutual connection is always an aspect of delimitation and exclusion. The question as to what constitutes the sense of \u201cwe\u201d is loaded with explosive power \u2014 also with regard to politics.<\/em><\/p>\n GOOD SPACE \u2014 COMMUNITIES, OR THE PROMISE OF HAPPINESS <\/strong>is not a project based on sociology; instead it is structured as a playfully sensory and experientially intensive exhibition essay. With the artistic positions and attitudes on display, it aims at selective, deeply probing investigations of social phenomena. For example, there is a focus on instances of fascination with the architectural creations of fictitious communities in remote areas, free from the impositions of urban order. Or we navigate along power structures with an eye to the grave and pervasive consequences of colonialism for native societies. Coming into play are configurations of space-time in which technology and spirituality intersect. The idea that our life is free, self-determined and filled with possibilities of self-determination is put to question with regard to its supposedly universal promise of <\/em>happiness. We encounter calls for an unconditional respect for the rights of animals, whereby the underlying relationship between people and animals comes to the fore and light is shed on the connection between culture and nature: for <\/em>example, in an inspection of plant communities down to the last detail. We come to witness scenes of paradoxical relationship; we examine residential concepts in the context of buildings <\/em>designed according to the dictates of Brutalism; our attention is directed to the fact that films engender vivid communal experiences not just in the screening room; or we accompany the tiny, isolated community of the crew on a submarine.<\/em><\/p>\n The exhibition essay conceives of itself as the call <\/em>for a cooperative stance characterised by curiosity, <\/em>respect and mutual esteem, one which constantly <\/em>redefines needs and negotiates differences.<\/em><\/p>\n The sites of the presentation are the Villa Merkel, the former residence of an industrialist which was built in the nineteenth century and today houses the gallery of the city, the Merkelpark which surrounds this villa, and also a section of the nearby EAW Halls, once the home of the Royal Wu\u0308rttemberg Railway Workshops. In addition, these particular venues make it possible to experience spaces which are linked to the industrial history of the city as well as of southwestern Germany in its entirety. They are part of a cultural space which today continues to be marked by variously motivated arrivals of immigrants \/ newcomers and by the coexistence of highly diverse communities. Gesellschaftliche Vielfalt realisiert sich nicht in Gestalt unverbundener, monokultureller Inseln, vielmehr im Kontakt, im Austausch, im Miteinander. Der Zusammenhalt von Gemeinschaften zeichnet sich durch etwas Verbindendes aus, seien dies geteilte Wertvorstellungen oder Identit\u00e4tsentw\u00fcrfe, seien dies Normen oder Regeln. Doch dem Verbindenden inh\u00e4rent ist immer auch Ab- und Ausgrenzung. Die Frage danach, was das Wir bestimmt, ist voller \u2013 auch politischer \u2013 Brisanz.<\/p>\n
\nKonsequenzen protokolliert werden. Es kommen Zeit-R\u00e4ume ins Spiel, in denen sich Technologie und Spiritualit\u00e4t kreuzen. Die Idee, unser Leben sei frei, selbstbestimmt und voller M\u00f6glichkeiten zur Selbstverwirklichung, wird als ein vermeintlich allgemeing\u00fcltiges Glu\u0308cksversprechen infrage gestellt. Wir begegnen Aufforderungen zum uneingeschr\u00e4nkten Respekt vor dem Recht der Tiere auf ein selbstbestimmtes Leben, womit das Mensch-Tier-Verh\u00e4ltnis u\u0308berhaupt in den Fokus r\u00fcckt oder auch das Verh\u00e4ltnis von Kultur und Natur, etwa im detailgenauen Blick auf Pflanzen-Communities. Wir werden Zeugen paradoxer Beziehungsszenen, von Wohnkonzepten im Kontext brutalistischer Architekturen, bekommen Hinweise darauf, dass Filme nicht nur im Kinosaal fu\u0308r starke Gemeinschaftserlebnisse sorgen; auch begleiten wir die kleine, isolierte Gemeinschaft einer UBoot-Besatzung.<\/p>\n
