Rob Voermans Arbeiten definieren sich durch eine eigenartige organische Architektur\u00e4sthetik, welche zwischen Utopie und Dystopie, Zerst\u00f6rung und Wachstum, Terror und Widerstand oszilliert. Diese Architektur scheint eine direkte \u00dcbersetzung der Zerst\u00f6rung in eine rein \u00e4sthetische Form zu sein, die, was ihre Syntax und Materialit\u00e4t betrifft, an sakrale Orte, improvisierte Obdachlosenunterk\u00fcnfte oder an dekorierte selbstgebaute Holzstrukturen der Hippiekommunen aus den 1970er Jahren erinnert. Seine Suche nach neuen L\u00f6sungen f\u00fcr das Zusammenleben im Angesicht aktueller Fragestellungen zur Entwicklung der Gesellschaft und unseres Planeten ist u. a. in seiner niederl\u00e4ndischen Herkunft begr\u00fcndet. Dem niederl\u00e4ndischen Stadtbild liegt eine durchweg rationale Planung und Ausf\u00fchrung zugrunde, weshalb dort kein Platz mehr zu sein scheint f\u00fcr offene und undefinierte Orte. Voermans Arbeiten repr\u00e4sentieren den Widerstand gegen diese starren Strukturen, entsprechend sind seine Installationen offene R\u00e4ume f\u00fcr Diskussionen und Performances, Treffpunkte gemeinsamer Reflexion.<\/p>\n

Die ortsspezifische Installation The Exchange<\/em> l\u00e4dt jeden zu dem Gedankenexperiment ein, wie ein globales W\u00e4hrungssystem aussehen m\u00fcsste, welches, angetrieben von unseren kapitalistischen Interessen, \u00d6konomie und \u00d6kologie verbindet und so zur m\u00f6glichen Rettung unseres \u00d6kosystems beitr\u00e4gt.<\/p>\n

The works of the artist Rob Voerman are defined <\/em>by a peculiar, organic architectural aesthetic which oscillates between utopia and dystopia, destruction and growth, terror and resistance. His architecture seems to be a direct translation <\/em>of destruction into a purely aesthetic form which, in its formal language and materiality, is reminiscent of sacred sites, improvised dwellings for the homeless, or decorated, do-it-yourself wooden <\/em>structures of the hippie communes from the 1970s. The artist\u2018s search for new solutions for communal living in response to current issues about the development of society and the state of our planet is based, among other things, on his background in the Netherlands. The urban landscape of the Netherlands has been thoroughly planned and shaped, so that there is apparently no place in this rigid system for open and undefined places. Voerman\u2019s works constitute a resistance against these structures; his installations are meeting places for shared reflection, open spaces for discussions and performances.<\/em><\/p>\n

His site-specific installation <\/em>The Exchange issues an invitation to everyone to participate in a mental <\/em>experiment involving a global monetary system <\/em>which combines economy and ecology and is driven <\/em>by our capitalistic interests towards a possible res<\/em>cue of our ecosystem.<\/em><\/p>\n
