Gabriela Oberkofler untersucht vornehmlich als Zeichnerin das Verh\u00e4ltnis von Kultur und Natur. Gro\u00dfformatig stehen Tiere und Pflanzen oder auch Bestandteile von Pflanzen isoliert auf wei\u00dfem Grund. Wirken die Motive auf den ersten Blick monumental, er\u00f6ffnet sich auf den zweiten Blick der Detailreichtum. Mit kleinsten, locker nebeneinander gesetzten Strichen entstehen mikroskopisch genaue Details von Zweigen, Bl\u00e4ttern, Samen oder Tierfellen. Die Zeichnungen vereinen mikrokosmische und makrokosmische Blicke auf die Natur. Die fast wissenschaftliche Genauigkeit scheint einen Einblick in die Ordnungssysteme der Natur zu erm\u00f6glichen, und dennoch bleiben die Motive durch die lockeren Striche fragil und wirken wie kurz vor der Aufl\u00f6sung. Eine wesentliche Rolle spielt f\u00fcr die K\u00fcnstlerin ihre Herkunft aus S\u00fcdtirol. Die Verbundenheit mit der Natur, aber auch die Diskrepanz zwischen Romantisierung der Landschaft und realen Lebensbedingungen in der Region, finden sich stetig in ihrem Werk wieder.<\/p>\n

Die Pr\u00e4sentation bildet den Auftakt f\u00fcr das Projekt Api \u00e9toile \u2013 ein wachsendes Archiv<\/em>. Es handelt
\nsich um ein zweij\u00e4hriges Forschungsprojekt, in dem
\neine mehrere Kontinente umfassende Saatgutbank, f\u00fcr vergessene Nutzpflanzen entstehen wird.
\nGabriela Oberkofler verbindet Kooperationen mit Landwirten, die Konzepte von Nachhaltigkeit und Gemeinschaft erproben, mit der k\u00fcnstlerischen Dokumentation und der Aufzucht von Pflanzen. 2021 ist eine Ausstellung des Projektes in der Villa Merkel geplant.<\/p>\n

It is principally as a draftswoman that Gabriela Oberkofler investigates the relationship between culture and nature. Large-format animals and plants as well as parts of plants are situated in isolation on a white ground. If the motifs appear monumental at a first glance, subsequent inspection reveals a richness of detail. Minute, loosely juxtaposed strokes of the pencil give rise to microscopically precise details of branches, leaves, seeds or animal skins. The drawings unite microcosmic and macrocosmic views of nature. The almost scientific precision seems to make possible an insight into nature\u2019s systems of order; nonetheless, the motifs remain fragile through the loose lines and seem to be almost on the point of dissolution.<\/em><\/p>\n

The artist\u2019s roots in southern Tyrol play a central role for her. Her oeuvre provides countless expressions of a sense of connection with nature, but also points towards the discrepancy between a romanticisation of the landscape and actual living conditions in the region.<\/p>\n

The presentation constitutes the start of the project Api \u00e9toile \u2014 ein wachsendes Archiv. This is a two-year research project which will create a seed bank for forgotten agricultural crops from several continents. Gabriele Oberkofler combines cooperative efforts with farmers to try out concepts of sustainability and community with the artistic documentation and cultivation of plants. An exhibition of the project at the Villa Merkel is planned for 2021.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
