Mikhail Karikis\u2019 medien\u00fcbergreifende Installationen basieren auf langzeitigen Kollaborationen mit Kindern und Jugendlichen. Formen von Gemeinschaft und die Tr\u00e4ume der kommenden Generation stehen in seinen Werken im Mittelpunkt.<\/p>\n

Ain\u2019t got no fear<\/em> (2016) ist ein Projekt, das in Zusammenarbeit mit Jugendlichen aus der postindustriellen K\u00fcstenlandschaft der Isle of Grain im Osten Englands entwickelt worden ist. 11- bis 13-j\u00e4hrige Jungs performen ihre eigenen Rapsongs \u00fcber ihr Leben und ihre Vorstellung der Zukunft. Der Film im Musikvideoformat folgt den Jungs durch die heimatliche Landschaft, in der sie sich Aufenthaltsorte und geheime Treffpunkte jenseits der Erwachsenenwelt erobert haben. \u00c4ltere Jugendliche suchen ihren Freiraum dagegen im \u00f6rtlichen Wald bei selbstorganisierten Raves.<\/p>\n

Children of Unquiet<\/em> (2013\u20132014) f\u00fchrt den Betrachter ins Tal des Teufels in der Toskana, einem geothermisch aktiven Areal. Seit 1905 befindet sich dort eines der weltweit gr\u00f6\u00dften Erdw\u00e4rmekraftwerke. Infolge der weitgehenden Automatisierung dieses Werks sind die f\u00fcr die Arbeiter in idealisierter Form errichteten D\u00f6rfer der Region inzwischen nahezu verlassen. 45 Kinder zwischen 5 und 12 Jahren, die dort immer noch leben, formulierten in einer Serie von Workshops und Performances ihre W\u00fcnsche f\u00fcr die Zukunft und gaben ihrer Verbindung zu der postindustriellen Landschaft Ausdruck. Long-term collaborations with children and young persons are the basis for the installations of Mikhail Karikis combining various media. His works focus on forms of community and on the dreams of the coming generation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ain\u2019t got no fear (2016) is a project realised with youths from the post-industrial coastal landscape of Isle of Grain in the east of England. Boys aged 11 to 13 each perform their own rap song about their life and their vision of the future. The film, done in a music-video format, follows the boys through the local landscape, in which they have established hangouts and secret meeting places beyond the bounds of the adult world. Older youths seek out their free spaces in the nearby forest in self-organised raves.<\/em><\/p>\n

Children of Unquiet (2013-2014) ) is situated in Tuscany in the Valley of the Devil, which is a geothermally active area. Operating there since 1905 is one of the largest geothermal power stations in the world. The automation of the facility has drained away most of the inhabitants from the industrial-dealised villages built for workers in the region. 45 children between the ages of 5 and 12 who continue to live there gave expression in a series of workshops and performances to their wishes for the future and their sense of connection to the postindustrial landscape.
