Vor zwei Jahren wurde die Haltestelle<\/em>, eine von Tobias Hauser im Jahr 1999 f\u00fcr Merkelpark konzipierte Installation, restauriert. Entstanden im Zusammenhang der Ausstellung The space here is everywhere<\/em> bietet sie historische, soziale und politische Implikationen.<\/p>\n

Die Skulptur ist Mahnmal, Nutzobjekt und dient manchen gar als Treffpunkt f\u00fcr Verabredungen: \u201eUm sechs an der Haltestelle<\/em> im Merkelpark.\u201c Sie vereint metaphorische mit subversiven Aspekten. An einer Weggabelung berichtet das Ensemble aus Bushaltezeichen, Informationstafel und Sitzbank von verschlungenen Wegen: Im Lichtkasten der Haltestelle \u201eLinie 2000\u201c sind die Fahrpl\u00e4ne \u00f6ffentlicher Verkehrsmittel Esslingens und der Stadtplan Sarajevos zu einem labyrinthischen Wege-Netz eines hybriden \u00f6ffentlichen Raums \u00fcbereinander gelegt. Im Haltestellenschild sind Symbole linker und rechter Gewaltherrschaft paraphrasiert. Die Inschrift \u201eFin de Si\u00e8cle. Linie 2000\u201c legt die pessimistische Deutung nahe, es k\u00f6nnten die \u00fcberwunden geglaubten, durch Gewalt gepr\u00e4gten Dimensionen des 20. Jahrhunderts auch weiterhin zukunftbestimmend sein. Andererseits bietet sich auch die Deutung an, man k\u00f6nne von dieser Haltestelle aus, trotz allen historischen Ballasts, in eine offene Zukunft reisen. Vor diesem Hintergrund stiftet die Ausstellung GOOD SPACE \u2013 POLITISCHE, \u00c4STHETISCHE UND URBANE R\u00c4UME<\/em><\/strong> einen inhaltlich virulenten Kontext, der Tobias Hausers Haltestelle<\/em> neu fokussiert.<\/p>\n

Haltestelle<\/em> („Bus Stop“), an installation conceived by Tobias Hauser for the Merkelpark in 1999, was restored two years ago. Created for the exhibition The space here is everywhere<\/em>, it has historical, social, and political implications.<\/p>\n

The sculpture is a memorial as well as a useful object, and it even serves some people as a meeting-place: „At six at the Haltestelle<\/em> in the Merkelpark.“ It combines metaphorical with subversive aspects. At a fork in the road, the ensemble consisting of bus-stop sign, information panel, and bench tells of tangled paths: In the illuminated box of the bus-stop „Line 2000“, the schedules of Esslingen\u2019s public transportation system and the city map of Sarajevo are superimposed into the labyrinthine network of a hybrid public space. Paraphrased on the bus-stop sign are symbols of leftist and rightist despotism. The inscription „Fin de Si\u00e8cle. Line 2000“ suggests a pessimistic interpretation that the future could continue to be determined by the violence-prone dimensions of the 20th century that were believed to have been overcome. On the other hand, an interpretation also offers itself that it would be possible, in spite of all historical ballast, to travel into an open future. Viewed against this background, the exhibition GOOD SPACE \u2013 POLITICAL, AESTHETIC AND URBAN SPACES<\/strong><\/em> establishes a context of explosive contents that acquire a fresh focus in Tobias Hauser\u2019s Haltestelle<\/em>.<\/p>\n
